Georgia Launches New Program to Promote Commercialization of Films

Georgia has launched a new program to promote the commercialization of Georgian films and increase their visibility at international film festivals. The program, which falls under the "Produce in Georgia" initiative, will organize screenings of full-length Georgian films at international film festivals, inviting international sales agents and distributors to increase the chances of successful film sales. The program was presented to representatives of the film industry by Mikheil Khidureli, the director of the agency.

In order to be eligible for participation in the program, companies must be beneficiaries of the agency's "Shoot in Georgia" program or produce a full-length feature film sponsored by the National Film Center. Participants must also meet several criteria, such as being relevant to the film festival and having experience working on international projects. The commission will evaluate compliance with the criteria.

The "Make in Georgia" agency will fully finance the costs of showing the film itself. Applications for participation in the program are open from April 11 to April 18, 2023, with winning films to be announced at the end of April.

With 30 projects already implemented, the "Make in Georgia" program has made a total investment of 200 million GEL, with a paid amount of over 18 million GEL. The new program aims to popularize Georgian film productions on the international market and promote sales growth.
