A framework agreement on cooperation in the field of climate change between the Government of Georgia and the Government of the Republic of Korea was signed at the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia.
The document was signed by Nino Tandilashvili, First Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, and Hyun Du Kim, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Georgia.
The agreement aims to deepen cooperation in reducing greenhouse gas emissions, adapting to climate change, and transitioning to a low-carbon economy.
“The signing of the framework agreement on climate change cooperation is an important step in strengthening environmental ties between the two countries. This agreement will move cooperation to a practical level and support the implementation of joint projects and initiatives aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions and enhancing climate adaptation capabilities,” said Nino Tandilashvili.
As noted by Hyun Du Kim, Georgia is the first country in the Caucasus region with which the Republic of Korea has signed such an agreement, creating new opportunities for cooperation on climate change between the two nations.
The cooperation will cover several key areas, including agriculture and forestry, as well as climate-related scientific and technological fields.
The meeting was attended by heads of relevant departments of the ministry and other representatives.
