Gela Khanishvili: We Can Increase Wheat Production in Georgia to 400,000 Tons

The Deputy Minister of Environment and Agriculture spoke about the prospects for the development of food safety and agro-sector development in the "Business Partner Four" program.

Gela Khanishvili stated that there is an opportunity to increase wheat production in Georgia to 400,000 tons. It is also possible to increase barley, corn, livestock and poultry production.

In this regard, the Ministry has prepared a project and is negotiating with foreign companies.

Khanishvili also states the importance of young people returning to rural areas to develop their businesses.

"The country has the opportunity to do that, projects are being prepared. We are working with donors, ”Khanishvili said.

He said there was discussions of attracting $ 200 million with EBRD, ADB, the World Bank.

Gela Khanishvili noted in the "Business Partner Four" that the government will subsidize 9 primary consumer products for 2 months.
