EU Becomes Main Source of Remittances to Georgia in June – Annual Growth Reaches 17.3%

In June 2025, remittance inflows to Georgia totaled $315.5 million, representing a 12.2% increase ($34.4 million) compared to June 2024. Over the first six months of the year, total transfers reached $1.71 billion.

According to statistics published today by the National Bank of Georgia, the European Union accounted for the largest share of remittance inflows—44.4%, or $140.2 million—with an annual growth rate of 17.3%.

Among EU countries, Italy, Germany, and Greece contributed the most to the total remittance volume. Additionally, the United States remains a growing source of inflows: transfers from the U.S. rose 23.0% year-on-year in June, reaching $58.7 million.

In contrast, remittances from Russia continued to decline. In June, transfers from Russia dropped 15.9% annually, totaling $41.1 million.

For comparison, $34.3 million (93.6 million GEL) was sent abroad from Georgia in June—21.8% more than in June 2024, when outflows stood at $28.1 million.
