ElGreen Publishes the 2021 Semiannual Report on Imports of Azerbaijani Electricity
Considering the high public interest, ElGreen Energy Company has published the 2021 semiannual report on imports of Azerbaijani electricity to Georgia.
The report comprises information on the volume and tariffs of imported electricity. According to the report, the month of January has recorded imports of 151.8 million kw/h, including, the Electricity System Commercial Operator (ESCO) purchased 104.3 million kw/h from ElGreen at the following tariffs: Cent 3.9 on weekends, Cent 3.9 at night, and Cent 5.4 in the daytime for 14 hours.
As for the volumes, 47.2 million kw/h was directly supplied to consumers in Georgia and 12.9 million kw/h was supplied to Turkey via Georgia. In February, imports of Azerbaijani electricity constituted 148.8 million kw/h, and the price of this import for daytime, night, and weekend periods was the same – Cent 4.4. Direct consumers received 22.9 million kw/h and 125.9 million kw/h was supplied to ESCO. As for March, ElGreen imported 191.1million kw/h. The price from March 1 to March 15 stood at Cent 4.4, while the price from March 15 to March 31 constituted Cent 3.9/3.9/6.5 (night, Weekend, day). Part of the imported electricity, namely 34.4 million kw/h was supplied directly to consumers. In April, electricity imports from Azerbaijan made up 36.2 million kw/h, including ElGreen supplied 23.1 million kw/h to ESCO at Cent 3.9/3.9/6.9, including 13.1 million kw/h was supplied directly to the subscribers.
As for the May-June period, Georgia has not imported electricity from Azerbaijan in these months. According to the ElGreen press release, ESCO prioritizes importing Azerbaijani’s cheapest electricity. ElGreen is the first energy company in Georgia that has published electricity imports tariffs. As reported, ElGreen provides trans-frontier electricity trade and transits electricity from Azerbaijan to Turkey through Georgia. The company launched imports of the cheapest electricity from Azerbaijan to Georgia in 2015.
