Economy Minister: Over 1,000 Companies with German Capital Run in Georgia; Resources are Broader
As part of the Georgian-German Business Dialogue online meeting, Georgian Economy Minister Natia Turnava discussed prospects for deepening Georgia-Germany economic relations.
“Georgian-German economic relations are constantly developed. Despite the pandemic, Georgia’s exports to Germany increased by 40% in January-March 2021. Economic sectors of both countries continue active cooperation. Today, over 1,000 companies with German capital operate in Georgia, while development resources are broader”, Natia Turnava said.
The pandemic has significantly damaged the Georgian economy and destroyed those positive tendencies that had emerged before the pandemic, especially, in the tourism industry, Natia Turnava said. Georgia will host the world’s biggest tourism exhibition ITB Berlin 2023. The event is expected to popularize Georgia in Germany and all over the world, as a significant tourism destination, the Georgian Economy Minister said.
The German-Georgian Business Dialogue was organized for the second time. At the online meeting, the German party was represented by Thomas Barais, Deputy Minister of Economy and Energy of Germany. The meeting was also attended by Enterprise Georgia director Mikheil Khidureli, President of Georgian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Giorgi Pertaia, Georgian Ambassador to Germany Levan Izoria, and German Ambassador to Georgia Hubert Knirsch.
