Earth Day Marked with Tree Planting and Student Activities in Georgia

On the occasion of Earth Day, an informational meeting was held at Public School No. 1 in Sagarejo Municipality, initiated by the National Forestry Agency of Georgia under the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia. As part of the event, students delivered presentations on the theme “Forest and Earth.”

Within the framework of the event, 22 thuja saplings were symbolically planted in the area surrounding the school. The students themselves will take responsibility for their care and maintenance.

The event was attended by Head of the National Forestry Agency Besik Amiranashvili, State Representative in Kakheti Platon Kalmakhelidze, and representatives of local self-government.

“On the occasion of Earth Day, we organized an informational meeting for students. Raising environmental awareness in society requires strong engagement and interest from young people. I would also like to highlight that promoting vocational education and attracting young professionals to the sector is one of the key components of forestry reform. We hope that more and more people will become interested in protecting and preserving forest ecosystems,” said Besik Amiranashvili.
