Development of a Smart Transport System Begins in Tbilisi

Tbilisi Municipality, with the support of the Central Government of Georgia and the German Reconstruction Bank, is starting to implement a new transport project, which involves the development of a smart transport system on the streets of the capital.

According to Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze, the smart transport system will be important in terms of increasing road safety, reducing traffic jams and improving the ecological situation.

"The system includes a data platform, road sensors, and flow management technology, which will allow us to manage traffic and parking in Tbilisi in real-time. It will also facilitate the movement of public transport and emergency crews. The smart transport system will help us increase road safety, reduce traffic jams and improve the environment. in terms of improvement", said Kakha Kaladze.

According to him, one of the components of the project is the improvement of the street infrastructure through the arrangement of pedestrian spaces with modern standards, bicycle paths, and bus corridors.

"Within the framework of the project, both modern equipment and software will be purchased and implemented. The total cost of the project is 47 million euros and it will be implemented over the next 4 years, with the involvement of an international consultant and industry experts," said the Tbilisi Mayor.
