The Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Davit Songulashvili, met with representatives of the Spanish water management company Aqualia and the water supply company Georgian Water and Power (GWP).
During the meeting, the parties discussed sustainable water resource management, the development of irrigation infrastructure, and investment opportunities in the sector.
Davit Songulashvili noted that sustainable management and rational use of water resources are among the Ministry’s key priorities, and therefore investment in the sector is essential. Cooperation with international partners creates opportunities to introduce modern approaches in Georgia and improve water resource management practices.
The discussion also touched upon the importance of sharing modern technologies and international experience, which will contribute to strengthening the sector and effectively addressing existing challenges in water resource management.
It is noteworthy that Aqualia is the fourth largest water management company in Europe and ranks ninth in the world by population served, according to Global Water Intelligence.
