Davit Songulashvili Meets Azerbaijani Presidential Envoy to Discuss Climate Cooperation
During his visit to Baku, Georgian Minister of Environment and Agriculture Davit Songulashvili met with Mukhtar Babayev, the Azerbaijani Presidential Envoy for Climate Issues.
The meeting focused on national and regional climate policy, current environmental challenges, and opportunities to deepen bilateral cooperation. Special attention was given to the importance of coordinated actions and knowledge-sharing to mitigate the effects of climate change. The discussion also addressed the upcoming 29th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), which will be hosted in Baku in November 2024.
“I would like to emphasize the importance of Baku hosting COP29 and thank you for your efforts. The leadership of the conference played an essential role in fostering constructive dialogue among countries on climate change issues,” said Davit Songulashvili.
Both parties expressed their readiness to strengthen cooperation in climate resilience, green development, and international partnerships.
The meeting was also attended by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to the Republic of Azerbaijan, Zurab Pataradze.
