Davit Songulashvili Meets Acting U.S. Ambassador to Georgia and USDA Agricultural Attaché
The Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, Davit Songulashvili, met with Alan Purcell, Acting U.S. Ambassador to Georgia, and Rishan Chaudhry, Agricultural Attaché of the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA).
The meeting focused on prospects for future cooperation. The parties expressed readiness to strengthen collaboration between the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia and the United States Department of Agriculture in order to promote trade between Georgia and the United States.
Discussions also covered Georgia’s role as a regional transit hub. In this context, particular attention was given to enhancing food safety systems and strengthening laboratory capacities.
Davit Songulashvili thanked Alan Purcell for the continued support provided within the framework of longstanding cooperation between the United States and Georgia in both agricultural and environmental fields.
The meeting also addressed planned changes within the framework of forestry reform, as well as issues related to the management and development of national parks.
The parties expressed their willingness and readiness to continue long-term active cooperation between the two countries. The importance of sharing best practices within future partnerships was also emphasized.
The meeting, held at the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, was attended by Deputy Ministers Lasha Dolidze and Lasha Avaliani, along with representatives of the U.S. Embassy in Georgia.
