David Songulashvili: There Is Potential for Price Reductions on Local Products and Greater Entry of Georgian Agri-Food Products into Organized Retail Chains

“Meeting with local producers was particularly important and insightful, and several key issues emerged. First of all, there is potential for price reductions on locally produced goods, as well as for increasing the presence of Georgian agri-food products in organized retail chains, which is a significant factor.

Today’s meeting once again highlights the opportunity local producers have—on the one hand, to increase domestic agri-food production, and on the other, to reduce prices. Overall, this will undoubtedly have a positive impact on the citizens of our country,” said David Songulashvili.

Today, Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze met with Georgian producers within the framework of the Governmental Coordinating Commission on Food Prices.

As the Prime Minister noted during the meeting, preliminary information indicates that existing market rules may, to some extent, hinder Georgian producers from adequately selling their products through domestic retail chains.

The Commission meeting was attended by 25 representatives of local producers.
