David Songulashvili: Strengthening Regional Services Enhances Effectiveness of National Food Agency
David Songulashvili, Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, met with the staff of the Shida Kartli Regional Department of the National Food Agency to review ongoing activities and regional priorities.
During the meeting, the Minister was briefed on the measures implemented in food safety, veterinary services, and plant protection, as well as the challenges currently facing the region.
Songulashvili emphasized the importance of adhering to food safety, phytosanitary, and veterinary standards in the production of high-quality, competitive products.
“Enhancing the capabilities of the National Food Agency’s regional services has played a key role in the full and effective implementation of its mandate,” the Minister stated.
It was noted that state control measures related to food safety, free animal vaccinations, and phytosanitary treatments against plant pests are being carried out continuously across the region. Additionally, the Agency is actively inspecting pesticide and agrochemical retail outlets to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
The Minister was accompanied by Deputy Minister Kakha Kakabadze, State Representative in Shida Kartli Simon Guledani, Head of the National Food Agency Zurab Chekurashvili, Members of Parliament, and representatives of agencies within the Ministry and local self-government authorities.
