David Songulashvili: Concrete Results of the Commission’s Work Will Be Made Public by the End of April
According to David Songulashvili, Minister of Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia and a member of the Governmental Coordinating Commission on Food Prices, the public will be informed of the specific outcomes of the Commission’s work by the end of April.
“At the organizational meeting of the Government Commission, we discussed the plan and the overall working process. Meetings with all relevant stakeholders have been scheduled in order to discuss the action plan and to define the results that are important to achieve through the Commission’s work,” David Songulashvili stated.
The Governmental Coordinating Commission on Food Prices, chaired by Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze, will also address issues related to medicine and fuel prices. This decision was made at the Commission’s first meeting, which was held at the Government Administration of Georgia. During the meeting, members reviewed an action plan for the coming weeks, which includes consultations with producers, retail chains, and distribution companies.
The Commission will work in coordination with the relevant parliamentary committee and is expected to complete its activities by the end of April. Throughout the process, the public will be gradually provided with detailed information on the actual cost of products, price components, and potential unjustified mark-ups. Commission members anticipate that price reductions may begin gradually during the course of the work.
