In 2019, container traffic at Georgian ports increased by 42.7% - in particular, Batumi and Poti ports handled 647,812 containers.
Poti port accounts for the largest share - 531 731 containers, which is 46,1% more than in 2018. Batumi port handled 116 981 containers.
This is record-breaking figure for both ports with the total throughput of 650,000 containers, that means that in 2019 they operating at almost full capacity. If growth continues in 2020, the Georgian ports will either not be capable to handle the cargo, or will be paralyzed.
