Business Groups Show Interest in Constructing Eco Village and Hotel Complex in Lechkhumi
Several business groups have expressed readiness to make large investments in the hospitality business in Lechkhumi, the Racha Region, Tsageri Mayor Avtandil Ugrekhelidze told Business Partner TV Program, but he did not divulge the companies. He only added that the business groups are selecting specific locations for implementing projects.
“They are exploring the number of visitors, selecting locations, determining what sort of complexes to make, and where. They give preference to eco-village projects rather than to one big hotel. However, there are two major business groups that are interested in building a big hotel complex in Tsageri Municipality”, Ugrekhelidze noted.
As for the number of tourists visiting Lechkhumi every day and the region’s readiness to host visitors, the Tsageri Mayor noted that the hospitality business is less-developed in Lechkhumi, however, the interest in local opportunities grows and private investors are ready to develop due infrastructure.
“There are guesthouses, there area several ethno hotels too, but there is no top-rated branded hotel. This year several food outlets were also opened”, Ugrekhelidze noted.
At this stage, the hospitality sector in Lechkhumi is able to host 250 tourists, the Tsageri Mayor noted.
