Branch of Batumi Maritime Academy to be Opened in the Historical Building Next Year

The branch of Batumi Maritime Academy will be opened in the historic building from next year. Rehabilitation works of the building are already underway and will be completed in 9 months.

According to Giorgi Gakharia, the branch of Batumi State Maritime Academy will supply the country's logistics centers with competent personnel.

At the initial stage, the branch will be only a high-level vocational education center that will meet all international standards and allow young people to acquire a demanded, highly paid profession.

The school is designed for 1000 students and the cost of the project is up to 6 million. The training module adaptation project has already been prepared; Professor-Teacher Training Plan; Negotiations are also underway with GIZ to create professional modules and syllabus.

The Prime Minister noted that against the background of the crisis created by the global pandemic, the problem of job spots in the world has intensified. Therefore, the government should further promote vocational education in specialties that are in high demand.
