Batumi Airport Expansion Project to be Completed by the End of November

The Batumi International Airport expansion project will be completed by the end of November 2020. As a result, the airport will serve 1.2 million passengers a year.

“We are currently undergoing the final stage of building permits with the Ministry of Economy, the Agency for Construction and Technical Supervision. Excavations are planned to begin in late March. The project is planned to expand the existing passenger terminal building to 30 m and 42 m.

In addition, the luggage processing zone will be partially expanded to include an automatic conveyer system. The total area of ​​the new terminal building will increase from 4085 m2 to 7,885 m2, while the length of the building will increase from 120 meters to 192 meters. Registration slopes will increase from 8 to 14, border guard slopes will increase from 6 to 12, and departures will increase from 6 to 8, and bus departures - from 4 to 6. An additional 1 luggage carousel will also be installed, ”said TAV Georgia Deputy General Manager, Tea Zakaradze.

According to Tea Zakaradze, infrastructure works will be completed by the end of November 2020. After the expansion, Batumi International Airport will serve 1,200,000 passengers a year.

TAV Georgia will invest $ 14 million in the Batumi International Airport Expansion Project.
