“Animal Waste Management Is a Major Challenge in Georgia” – Solomon Pavliashvili
Deputy Ministers of Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, Solomon Pavliashvili and Lasha Dolidze, met with representatives of the private sector to discuss issues related to the management of animal by-products not intended for human consumption.
“Animal waste management is a significant challenge in Georgia. Proper handling of animal waste generated at slaughterhouses, markets, and farms is critical from the perspectives of public health, environmental protection, and economic sustainability. Our task is to ensure the effective functioning of the system through coordinated cooperation with the business sector,” said Solomon Pavliashvili.
As noted by Lasha Dolidze during the meeting, the state plans to offer various support programs to the business sector.
“Currently, a process of programmatic reorganization is underway at the Rural Development Agency. Our goal is to review existing programs or create new support mechanisms, taking into account the needs and priorities of the business sector,” Lasha Dolidze stated.
The discussion also addressed the issue of compliance with deadlines, and it was noted that working-format meetings will continue in the future.
The meeting was attended by senior representatives of the National Food Agency, National Environmental Agency of Georgia, the Solid Waste Management Company, the Environmental Supervision Department, and the Waste and Chemicals Management Policy Department.
