AFBA: Information Published by ESCO Regarding Imported Electricity Tariffs does Not Reflect the Real Picture
The non-governmental organization The Association of Young Financiers and Businessmen - AFBA believes that the information published by the Commercial Power System Operator (ESCO) on imported electricity tariffs does not reflect the real picture and allows for many interpretations. This is stated in a statement issued by AFBA today.
Young financiers cite the example of February, when, according to ESCO, Georgia imported 258.85 million kilowatt hours of electricity from Russia.
According to the statement, de facto Abkhazia actually consumed all this electricity and Georgia did not pay any money for it.
At the same time, the AFBA claims that the average imported electricity tariff published by Electricity System Commercial Operator (ESCO) does not reflect the full picture and it has repeatedly been manipulated by various interested public groups.
"According to AFBA, it is important for ESCO to publish detailed information, which will reflect the price of imported electricity by day/night and holidays. As a result, all interested parties will be able to obtain accurate information and avoid sharing lies.
Based on all the above, the non-governmental organization "Association of Young Financiers and Businessmen" - AFBA applied to ESCO with a request to make public the tariffs for imported electricity during 2016-2021.
In particular, AFBA requests public information on detailed tariffs for electricity imports. The requested information should detail the imported electricity tariff according to the day/night and holidays, according to the so-called contract prices. At the same time, AFBA requested information on the amount of electricity imported from Russia separately for the energy consumption of Georgia and the consumption of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia.
AFBA, meanwhile, calls on the Electricity Market Operator (ESCO) to make the disclosure of detailed information on imported electricity tariffs permanent and systematic. In particular, the organization believes that ESCO should announce the imported electricity tariffs by the 5th of each following month, with a detailed breakdown of the requirements in accordance with the requirements that AFBA applied to ESCO today, "- said in a statement.
