699 Cases of Vehicle Emissions Non-Compliance Identified in October
From 1 October to 31 October 2025, employees of the Environmental Supervision Department of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture identified 699 cases of non-compliance with established vehicle emission standards.
Inspectors of the Environmental Supervision Department carry out daily emission control of vehicles operating on the roads in the country’s four major cities. The department is gradually strengthening its capacity in this direction. Recently, the number of patrol crews has increased, which is important for enhancing the effectiveness of emission control.
As a result, in October:
-
488 violations were identified in Tbilisi,
-
113 in Batumi,
-
55 in Kutaisi,
-
and 43 in Rustavi.
Out of the 699 cases, 610 violations were committed by individuals, while in 89 cases, legal entities were fined by the Department’s staff.
It is noteworthy that among the violations:
-
381 involved passenger cars,
-
296 involved minibuses,
-
20 involved trucks,
-
and 2 involved buses.
As for the annual statistics, 4,497 violations were identified during the first ten months of 2025.
To improve ambient air quality, in parallel with visible vehicle emission control, the Department carries out several other measures. Inspectors regularly monitor the quality of fuel at petrol stations to minimize the use of substandard fuel, which significantly reduces the emission of harmful substances. In addition, to prevent pollution from the industrial sector, the process of introducing continuous self-monitoring systems for harmful air emissions is actively underway; 36 major enterprises have already implemented the system. All these measures, taken together, contribute to minimizing air pollution.
