290 Vehicle Emission Violations Detected Across Georgia in April

From April 1 to April 30, 2025, the Environmental Supervision Department of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia identified 290 violations of vehicle emissions standards.

The highest number of violations—119—was recorded in Tbilisi, followed by 73 in Batumi, 55 in Rustavi, and 43 in Kutaisi.

Of the 290 violations, 244 were committed by individuals, while 46 were committed by legal entities and resulted in fines. Among the offending vehicles, 173 were passenger cars, 108 were minibuses, and 9 were trucks.

In total, during the first four months of 2025, the Environmental Supervision Department identified 1,437 cases of non-compliance with emissions standards.

Improving ambient air quality remains a key priority for the department. As part of ongoing efforts, visible emissions from moving vehicles are monitored in Georgia’s four major cities. In addition, the department regularly inspects fuel quality at gas stations to reduce the use of substandard fuel, which significantly contributes to air pollution.

To further mitigate emissions, a continuous self-monitoring system for harmful substance emissions is being introduced at industrial enterprises. Currently, 35 of the largest enterprises in Georgia have implemented this system. These coordinated measures aim to significantly reduce atmospheric pollution nationwide.
