Rehabilitation of National Hero Merab Kostava Memorial House-Museum Begins

Tbilisi City Hall is starting the rehabilitation works of Merab Kostava Memorial House-Museum.

The building is being repaired, according to Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze, so that the monument's authenticity can be fully maintained.

"Merab Kostava Memorial House-Museum was established on the initiative of the first President of Georgia, Zviad Gamsakhurdia in 1991. The museum was located at N1 Zandukeli Street, where the Georgian national hero Merab Kostava was born and worked until the end of his life. The authenticity of the museum will be maintained, the infrastructure will be renewed. The works will take place for 18 months," said Kakha Kaladze.

In addition to the museum memorial building, rehabilitation works will begin in the area, which was purchased by the Tbilisi City Hall from a private person. In connection with the rehabilitation works, the cultural heritage preserved in the museum and the museum fund, in accordance with the relevant rules and instructions for the protection of values, have been moved to a protected place for study and processing.
