Project ArtBeat is a contemporary art gallery based in Tbilisi. They've decided to ask artists what their daily routine is like during the pandemic and how the respond it creatively. Gallery Artbeat interviewed Georgian artist, Tamuna Chabashvili.

Can you tell us about your daily routine during COVID-19?

I could describe it like this:

How have the unforeseen circumstances affected/inspired your artistic practice and how have you chosen to respond creatively?

My main projects have been suspended. Due to the nature of those projects, my working process has also been suspended. I have focused all my attention on teaching. Conducting studio lessons online is a challenge. I do it online twice a week. My room has become a portal to a world yet unexplored by me. In a way my teaching process has become an extension of my art practice. Unpredictability and intuition is the key. The online format has given rise to new questions. At the moment, my creativity is to observe and ask questions. And at the same time to find interesting ways and means to involve my students in this process.

One habit that you will change after the quarantine?

I will stop staring at the screen all the time and start to be more active in my studio.

Is there anything new you found out about yourself during self-isolation?

Talking to camera all the time is extremely tiring.

What do you miss the most?

I miss the multi-sensory experience in art particularly touch

How do you think our lives will change?

Covid-19 restrictions will stimulate new ways of living. The emotional as well as social and economic instability caused by or simply aggravated by Covid-19 will also determine the new path.
