Project ArtBeat: Daily Routine of Georgian Artist Maia Naveriani During Covid-19
Project ArtBeat is a contemporary art gallery based in Tbilisi. They've decided to ask artists what their daily routine is like during the pandemic and how the respond it creatively. Gallery Artbeat interviewed Georgian artist, Maia Naveriani.
Can you tell us about your daily routine during COVID-19?
Every morning I wake up thinking what a weird dream I had and when I realise it’s not a dream but the new reality I get some strange sensation - something between horror and celebration and than I start the day with coffee and approach every banal and mundane task as a sacred duty.
How have the unforeseen circumstances affected/inspired your artistic practice and how have you chosen to respond creatively?
In this lockdown I went through my old works and found so many that felt completely relevant and current. I began to compile them into my instagram feed, putting a new life and context into almost forgotten drawings. People started to react and share them and this is a very new and refreshing form of communication for me.
One habit that you will change after the quarantine?
I will never spend as much time in supermarkets as I did before Corona.
