Mamuka Bakhtadze and Jens Stoltenberg Discuss Georgia’s Progress toward Euro-Atlantic Integration

The process of Georgia's NATO membership and the country's progress toward Euro-Atlantic integration were discussed by Georgian Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze and NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg at the meeting held today at the Administration of the Government.

The conversation emphasized Georgia's successful implementation of its obligations and effective use of integration mechanisms.

The Secretary General of NATO reaffirmed the Alliance's commitment to the decision made at the Bucharest Summit concerning Georgia's eventual membership.

Special emphasis was placed on the importance of Black Sea Region security for ensuring overall Euro-Atlantic security, also on Georgia's important role in international peace missions.

The parties discussed the NATO-led trainings at the Joint Training and Evaluation Center which seek to enhance the country's resilience and boost its interoperability with NATO.

One of the main topics of the meeting was the state of affairs in the region. The Georgian side thanked the Secretary General of NATO for firm support of Georgia's territorial integrity and sovereignty.
The NATO delegation and the members of the Georgian Government participated in the enhanced-format negotiations.
