Tamta Sharashenidze, Corporate Director of Huawei Georgia, spoke about the current situation and future prospects in the telecommunications sector in the Public Broadcaster's "Business Partner" program.
"The pandemic is a major challenge for all sectors, including the telecommunications sector. Huawei is a global company in the sector and one of our biggest challenges is increased consumption in the business, be it mobile internet or fixed internet. Internet consumption in Georgia has increased by 200%, Huawei is cooperating with local operators and they have managed to withstand this heavy workload and provide high quality service to customers.
A pandemic for the telecommunications business is both a challenge and a new opportunity that has accelerated digital processes. As you know how online shopping has grown, digital education and telemedicine have become important.
Artificial intelligence and big data, which are analytical platforms, are also becoming important. They can process extremely large amounts of data in a short period of time. It should be noted that Georgia is quite ahead in terms of technology, as almost all the technologies that exist in modern telecommunications have already been introduced. The stages of the introduction of artificial intelligence in Georgia are slowly beginning. Huawei is constantly bringing the latest technologies to the country together with its partners, ”said Tamta Sharashenidze.
According to him, the Chinese company does not plan production relations with Georgia yet. Tamta Sharashenidze names the lack of infrastructure and qualified workers as the reason for this.
"We need to invest in education to help develop these products in the country. As for 5G technology, it should be said that it brings new perspectives for artificial intelligence, including cooperation with the state and our operators.
We would like to remind you that the company "Huawei" has been present on the Georgian market since 2001.
