Health Minister: Mobile Field Hospital will Hold Approximately 500 Beds
The Health Ministry has taken the decision to arrange a makeshift hospital with approximately 500 beds at one of the sports complexes in Dighomi, Tbilisi.
The greater part of beds will be supported by oxygen equipment, Health Minister Eka Tikaradze said. “All equipment and devices stay in order for beds to ensure continuous oxygen supply to patients”, Eka Tikaradze said.
“Over the past period, Georgian doctors are not trained for field works, but the greater part of them are practitioner doctors and they graduated medical schools when military specialization was mandatory and they have enough experience in this direction. Gori-based doctors will remain in the city.
They have only 165 doctors in Gori. Therefore, another group of doctors with due qualifications will treat patients in Dighomi makeshift hospital. We also communicate with the Red Cross who has good experience in terms of volunteers and with their support our patients will get safe services, Eka Tikaradze said and specified that the makeshift hospital would be used in extraordinary situations.
