Georgia Selects "A Long Break" as Oscar Candidate

Data Firtskhalava's "A Long Break" has been selected as Georgia’s candidate for the Oscars. The decision was made by a 12-person jury.

"The story follows Tsitsi (31), who initiates a reunion of his former classmates after 15 years, with a seemingly harmless cause: they have not seen each other since graduation and the reason for the gathering is to remember school and have a drink. However, Tsitsi has a secret motivation: he wants to punish his former classmate Guga, who used to make life difficult for the entire class at school."

On August 22, the National Film Center of Georgia started the selection procedure of the Georgian film candidate for the 2023 International Feature Film nomination of the American Film Academy. Georgian cinematographers could apply until September 9.
