Georgia Announces New Decisions for Preventing Coronavirus Spread

On March 16, as part of the coronavirus spread prevention measures, the Government’s interdepartmental coordination board led by Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia has taken the following decisions:

1. Starting March 18, foreign citizens are banned to enter Georgia for a period of two weeks;

2. Ski resorts will suspend operation temporarily;

3. Cafes, restaurants and bares are given recommendations to suspend services and use the so-called courier services;

4. A special mechanism will be shaped at the Government’s office to supervise the implementation of the mentioned decisions;

5. Citizens over 70 years old area recommended to abstain from visiting public spaces and stay in self-isolation to avoid potential health threats.

At this stage, Georgia has registered 33 virus-infected persons and their health are satisfactory. A total of 637 persons were placed in quarantined and 54 persons remain under supervision in inpatient clinics.
