Arne Berggren Appointed as New Chairman of Supervisory Board of TBC

TBC has a new chairman of the Supervisory Board. Nikoloz Enukidze, who served as the Chairman of TBC Bank Group PLC, was replaced by Arne Berggren.

Arne Berggren became a member of the TBC Bank Supervisory Board in 2019.

Nikoloz Enukidze will remain as a Senior Independent Non–executive Director at TBC Bank.

The resignation of Nikoloz Enukidze was conditioned by the introduction of corporate governance standards for commercial banks by the National Bank. 

With the renewed version of the corporate governance code, the criteria for an appointed independent member of the Supervisory Board were refined and clarified. If previously a person was considered an independent member for nine years, now this status can be gained in 7 years.

Apart from this, Risk Committee is now chaired by Abhijit Akerkar, while Tsira Kemularia is appointed as a Senior Independent Director of TBC PLC and Supervisory Board.

It is also worth mentioning, that the new head of the Supervisory Board, Arne Berggren is a Non-executive Director of the Bank of Cyprus and an Independent Non-executive member of the Piraeus Bank.
