ARDI Insurance: Industry Expects Health Ministry to Specify Details
Georgian insurance industry expects the Health Ministry to specify details. As ARDI Insurance executive director Mikheil Japaridze told Business Partner, the private sector had verbal communication with the Government.
ARDI Insurance is ready to back measures for managing the COVID-19 pandemic. “We need the format of cooperation. Insurance companies should have exact information about what the engagement in the COVID management implies, how the feedbacks work, and so on”, Mikheil Japaridze noted. In response to the question, how reasonable it is that the sector engages in these processes, Japaridze noted that they do not know what the Health Minister has implied when talking about the obligations of insurance companies.
The private insurance sector is liable to only their contractors, he said. “We cannot talk about details without having a specific protocol. We had verbal talks, but we need clarity. All insurance companies operate as part of private insurance contracts. The first meeting about the involvement of the insurance sector in COVID-19 management was held on October 15. Since then we are waiting for specific written rules on the forms of participation. We need a clear protocol to understand what we can do and what not, through what resources, and so on.
We hope for more clearance in this regard”, Mikheil Japaridze said. We remind you that starting October 26, the Georgian insurance industry joined COVID-19 management schemes. The Health Minister has provided no information on how family doctors will participate in the management of infected citizens, has provided no guidelines, but noted that insured citizens would pay for due services.
