Archaeological Museum of Vani Presents Pompeii Exhibits for the First Time in Georgia
In July and August, the treasures of Pompeii will be exhibited at the renovated Archaeological Museum of Vani, organized by the Georgian National Museum and the Italian Embassy in Georgia.
"Life and Death - Glorious Pompeii" - this is the name of the exhibition, which will present for the first time in Georgia the history of the ancient Roman city of Pompeii covered with ash as a result of the eruption of the volcano Vesuvius on August 24, 79 AD.
Pompeii, as a well-preserved city, is one of the main sources for the study of ancient culture. In connection with the exhibition, the Ambassador of Italy to Georgia, Enrico Valvo visited the Vani Archaeological Museum.
The ambassador was hosted by the director of the museum, Davit Lortkipanidze. According to the parties, the exhibition is the result of close cooperation between the institutions of the two countries.
