Women Redefining the Tech Industry in Georgia: Perspectives from HT Solutions

Gender imbalance in technology is a persistent challenge for companies worldwide. However, HT solutions, an IT infrastructure, cybersecurity, and cloud systems service provider in Georgia, is seeing progress towards gender equality in the field. Nino Gvazava, managing partner of HT solutions, notes that the number of women in technology-related fields is increasing in the country, and barriers preventing women from pursuing careers in technology are being removed.

According to a World Bank report, women make up less than a third of the world's workforce in technology-related fields. However, in Georgia, there has been a positive trend in recent years towards gender equality in the industry. The majority of HT solutions employees, including decision-makers, are women, demonstrating the progress being made in the country.

Gvazava emphasizes that it is difficult to talk about gender in technology because it is purely intellectual work. However, it is noteworthy that the number of employed women and men in the field is moving towards equalization. Women are increasingly represented in decision-making positions and fields such as cybersecurity and software development. This is a significant shift, as in the past, meetings with client organizations and state structures would typically be attended by mostly men.

While various courses and non-university education programs are popular in Georgia, Gvazava stresses the importance of traditional university education in the field of technology. Students gain fundamental knowledge through university education, which is ultimately essential when moving to higher positions. However, it remains challenging for both male and female students to secure junior positions in the field. Thus, mentoring is critical during this period to help students prepare their CVs, learn to pass interviews properly, and navigate the job market.

In conclusion, HT solutions is a company that has partnered with large enterprises, state structures, and banks, with more than 200 clients and over 1,000 successful projects. Its success in achieving gender equality in the technology field is an inspiration to other companies and an example of the progress that can be made towards creating a more diverse and inclusive workforce. With more women entering the technology industry, there is hope for increased innovation, creativity, and progress in the field.
