"When we Were Students, we Often got Confused, and Such Initiatives Motivate you and Help you to Self-determine" - Agrosphere Scholarship Holder

Agrosphere, an importer of innovative agricultural products and agricultural machinery, has been implementing scholarship and internship programs in cooperation with the Georgian Agrarian University for the third year. The aim of these programs is to popularize agriculture, interest more young people in the field, and train qualified personnel.

This year, Agrosphere doubled the number of participants in the program and awarded scholarships to six high-achieving third- and fourth-year students. For several months, they will have the opportunity to engage in internships at the company's service centers, the demonstration greenhouse, the demonstration vineyard, in the production of certified wheat seed material, in the mechanization service, and visit the plots and greenhouses of partner farmers.

We have decided to offer you a series of interviews to introduce you to the fellows of Agrosphere. This time, we talked to Levan Kikacheishvili, a third-year student of the winemaking and viticulture program at the Agrarian University of Georgia.

Levan, how important do you think this initiative of Agrosphere is?

As students, we often get confused, and such initiatives motivate you and help you to self-determine. The thing is, there are many ways to develop during your studies, and sometimes it's hard to know which path to choose. So it is better to try different things and make the right decision. Agrosphere's programs help us in this, giving us the opportunity to practice in different directions and better understand our own interests.

When did you become interested in agriculture?

I am very attracted to nature, which is why I decided to connect my future with it. Additionally, as a child, I often visited my grandfather's vineyard, tended the vines with him, and participated in the harvest and various processes. I think that the awakening of interest in my future profession and specifically the choice of winemaking and viticulture was to a certain extent determined by this childhood experience.

Levan, what are your future plans? How do you see the development of your professional path?

Unfortunately, my grandfather's vineyard is no longer active for me to continue his path. It will not be easy to start all over again, moreover, the agricultural market is already quite saturated, which will make establishing myself even more difficult. Therefore, I would first like to work within a large company, and I will start thinking about my own business later, after accumulating experience.
