UNDP and Bank of Georgia Launch School for Women Entrepreneurs

To support women in business leadership, the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and the Bank of Georgia have signed a Memorandum of Understanding. As part of this collaboration, they will provide unprecedented support to up to two hundred start-ups created by women, which will help change the rules of the game in small and medium-sized businesses.

The Women Entrepreneurs School, which will be established under this partnership, will offer women entrepreneurs one of the best models for their business development, a 360-degree approach to business promotion. This unique model encompasses the full cycle of support for the newly created enterprise and covers four main areas - theoretical education, development of practical skills, access to finance, and building a strong partnership network.

The Women Entrepreneurs School will be established with the financial support of the Bank of Georgia, the Government of Sweden, and UNDP. The establishment and development of the school will be implemented within the framework of the UN Joint Program, which serves the achievement of gender equality in Georgia.

‘’Bank of Georgia continues to implement projects to support women entrepreneurs. The Women Entrepreneurs School was established in partnership with the United Nations Development Program and, as a result of a preliminary study, tailored to the needs of women entrepreneurs. Within the framework of this project, four main directions have been identified, on which the program will be concentrated. These are education, support, and coaching, experience acquisition, and collaboration. We are confident that the program will play an important role in empowering women and promoting their work in the future," said Zurab Masurashvili.
