Tekuna Gachechiladze: Inflation is Taking a Toll on Restaurant Business
The impact of high inflation also creates problems in the restaurant business.
The famous chef and restaurant chain owner Tekuna Gachechiladze talks about the trends in the restaurant business with "Business Partner" and states that the situation is favorable, unlike in previous years caused by the pandemic, but now the problem is inflation.
According to Gachechiladze, the prices of almost all product types are increasing, making the cost more expensive. In restaurants, the menu tariff cannot increase as much as its cost, which ultimately leads to a decrease in the profit margin of restaurants.
"The population already has a low purchasing power, if we increase the prices as the products become more expensive, our turnover will decrease," Gachechiladze says.
Chef Tekuna Gachechiladze is the owner of a chain of restaurants, which combines three high-class restaurants and a culinary school, which has no analogs in the Georgian market. The chain is represented by two restaurants: "Culinarium Khasheria" and "Taqueria". In addition, Tekuna Gachechiladze is the co-founder of the recreation space "Silver Lakes Farm" in Kakheti.
