Spotify Marks 1 Year in Georgia and Shares Most Streamed Artists

The Spotify platform was launched in Georgia in February last year and was met with great joy by both performers and users in the country. Last year, a list of more than 347,000 recorded songs (playlists) was created by Georgians on the platform, and the words that Georgians call their playlists are: "chill", "rock" and "sad".

The selection of the most popular artists (Mostplays) took place on February 4, 2022. The results look like this - "Dagdagani" is the most popular local singer during the year, and LOUDspeakers' song "World in my eyes" is the most listened song in Georgia. At the top of the list for foreign costumer is pianist Khatia Buniatishvili, who is especially popular in the US, France, and Germany.

Local genres that appear on the platform include lo-fi jazzhop, Georgian folk, and Georgian alternative. Georgian alternative music singer Nini Nutsubidze is another artist who has a large audience after the launch of Spotify in Georgia, as well as indie pop artist Saturra.
