SOCAR Celebrates a 15-year Anniversary in Georgia

A celebratory event dedicated to the 15th year anniversary of SOCAR being in business in Georgia was held in Tbilisi on December 22.

The ceremony was attended by Rovnag Abdullayev, the CEO of the SOCAR oil company and a president of the Association of Football Federations of Azerbaijan, Natia Turnava, the Minister of Sustainable Development and Economy of Georgia, Kakha Kaladze, the Mayor of Tbilisi, and Faig Guliyev, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Georgia, and other officials. 

As it was noted by the speakers at the event, SOCAR has been the largest investor and payer in the state budget in the energy sector of Georgia.

The high social responsibility of the company and its significant participation in projects that contribute to the strengthening of friendship and cooperation between Georgia and Azerbaijan were also underlined.

CEO of SOCAR, Rovnag Abdullayev awarded the company's employees with the title of Honorary Oil Worker and the Order of Merit for outstanding service. A number of people were awarded for their contribution to strengthening friendly relations between Georgia and Azerbaijan, for the integration of youth, and for the preservation of their historical heritage.

It is worth mentioning, that oil products are transported to the markets of Western countries by SOCAR-owned Kulevi-oil terminal, which was established back in 2006. SOCAR Energy Georgia provides retail and wholesale sales of Azerbaijan and foreign oil products through 112 gas stations, 16 service centers, and 5 oil terminals in the Georgian market. It also supplies natural gas to the regions of Georgia and manages the operation of gas distribution networks.

From 2008 to date, the number of subscribers of SOCAR Georgia Gas increased from 78,000 to 808,000, as well as a gas distribution network of about 12,000 kilometers was built. As a large-scale investment program was implemented together with the Government of Georgia, gas distribution networks were launched for 320,000 new customers in the regions of the country.
