Second Hand Shops have Become more Expensive in Georgia

After a pause of several months, all types of shops and markets in Georgia have been opened.

Consequently, work has resumed at all the outlets where second-hand clothes are sold, although at increased prices. As the traders told BPN, due to the depreciated GEL, the prices of the products have risen and they have been forced to increase the retail value of their clothes.

The price of clothes on the secondary market has increased from 2 to 10 GEL on average. The price depends on the condition of this or that garment, what brand it is and which country it comes from.

Traders say the most expensive products are imported from the United States and Great Britain, followed by Germany, other European countries and Turkey.

In Georgia, 29% of second-hand clothes imported in the last 4 months of 2020 come from Turkey. 563.4 tons of clothing were imported from the neighboring country in January-April, a total of 1,944 tons from all countries.
