"Sakaeronavigatsia" Secures €1 Million Radar Service Deal with Spanish Firm Indra
"Sakaeronavigatsia," Georgia's authority for air transport safety, has inked a €1 million contract with the Spanish company Indra to maintain its radar station.
Under the agreement, Indra will provide technical and software support for MSSR type locators. "Sakaeronavigatsia" received authorization for this procurement in August, with the procurement objectives outlined as follows:
"The aim of this procurement is to secure technical support services for the secondary locator (MSSR, Mode-S) (NAS/36/11/09, dated 27.11.2009) and three units for the ground-based ADS-B station (agreements: No. NAS/15/19/14, dated 30.09.2014 and No. NAS/36/12/13, dated 30.12.2013) over a two-year period.
Ensuring the uninterrupted operation of radiolocators and ground stations is critical for "Sakaeronavigatsia" LLC, as they provide air traffic controllers with vital aircraft location data and other essential information for the safe navigation of aircraft," as per the State Procurement Agency's website.
In 2022, "Sakaeronavigatsia" managed an average of 400 overflights daily in Georgian airspace. The year saw a 69% increase in the usage of Georgian airspace, fueled by the resurgence of global travel and the closure of Ukrainian airspace.
