RMG Summer School 2024 Concludes Successfully
The sixth group of students has completed the one-month paid internship program at the RMG Summer School. The closing ceremony, held at RMG's head office in the Kazreti district, featured presentations by the participants to an audience of invited guests.
For the first time, alongside students from the Technical University of Georgia (STU), students from Tbilisi State University (TSU) also participated in the program. Students were divided into fields such as geology, drilling technologies, mineral processing, surveying, geotechnics, and mining technologies, based on their areas of study and interest. Notably, future geologists had the chance to gain practical experience in the underground mine at Bektakari, a project developed by RMG using modern technologies.
The RMG Summer School is a one-month paid internship that provides students with hands-on experience at the company's enterprise in Kazreti during the summer.
"We’ve been running this project for six years now. This year, 24 students took part—18 from STU’s Faculty of Mining and Geology and 6 from TSU’s Faculty of Exact and Natural Sciences. The participants were involved in the company's daily operations, which is crucial for their professional development and career choices," said Giorgi Chkheidze, Deputy Executive Director of RMG for personnel issues.
"This year, a memorandum was signed between RMG and TSU, allowing TSU students to join the Summer School for the first time. I would encourage other students to join this program, as it offers valuable practical experience," said Anna Kikvadze, a TSU student and participant of the RMG Summer School.
"Theory is important, but practical knowledge is vital for career growth. We saw everything firsthand, guided by professionals in a friendly environment," said Nikoloz Bezhuashvili, an STU student and participant in the program.
At the event's conclusion, students were presented with souvenirs, and all participants received certificates for their successful involvement in the project. Over the past six years, more than 250 students have taken part in the RMG Summer School, with over 70% finding employment afterward. Thirty participants have gone on to join the RMG team.
As part of its corporate responsibility, RMG aligns with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, with a focus on promoting quality education. The company implements several educational initiatives, including student programs under cooperation agreements with Georgia's leading universities.
