RMG Scholarship Program Supports Talented Students in Georgia

The Technical University of Georgia has identified a group of outstanding students who have been selected to receive a one-year scholarship from the RMG Scholarship Program.

The program received applications from approximately 80 students across five faculties: Mining and Geology, Chemical Technologies and Metallurgy, Energy, Transport Systems and Mechanical Engineering, Informatics, and Management Systems. The selection process was rigorous, with students undergoing a two-stage interview with the company's managers. While high academic performance was a critical criterion, special attention was also paid to encouraging students from the Kvemo Kartli region, reflecting RMG's commitment to social responsibility.

RMG established the one-year scholarship in 2018 to attract and support talented and motivated young people in the field of mining and geology. Initially, the program included two educational faculties, and it has since expanded to five. RMG and the Technical University of Georgia have enjoyed a fruitful collaboration over the past five years, during which the company has become one of the outstanding employers for the university's mining and geological faculty. Under the partnership, RMG has provided students with opportunities for internships, further professional development, and employment.

During the event to announce the scholarship recipients, the Rector of the Technical University of Georgia, Davit Gurgenidze, praised RMG's commitment to the university's students. He noted that RMG's internships and employment opportunities have helped students to become highly qualified personnel. This year, the company has awarded 25 scholarships to deserving students.

In addition to the scholarship program, RMG provides selected, motivated, and high-performing students at the Faculty of Mining and Geology with the opportunity to participate in the RMG Summer School. The one-month program provides paid practical experience in the company's enterprises. RMG also hosts students from the elementary course of STU for training-field practices, enabling them to gain hands-on experience and familiarize themselves with the production cycle of the largest mining company in Transcaucasia.

Recognizing the gap between the requirements of new graduates and the needs of the company, RMG and the Technical University of Georgia launched a dual educational project in 2019. The individual development plan creates customized programs for each participant to develop their competencies.

Since 2018, approximately 300 students have participated in the RMG scholarship competition, with 78 students awarded scholarships by the company. Johnny Shubitidze, CEO of RMG, expressed his satisfaction with the program, which he believes will prepare students for successful careers at the company. He hopes that the scholarship recipients will become leading specialists and employees of RMG in the future.
