RMG Marks 50 Years of Mining Production and Honors Outstanding Miners

On December 17, RMG celebrated the Professional Day of Miners together with its employees and invited guests at the National Youth Palace. This year’s event was especially significant, as alongside honoring the most successful miners of 2024–2025, the company marked the 50th anniversary of mining production in Kazreti.

The anniversary event opened with a presentation highlighting five decades of mining history, showcasing key milestones and honoring the memories and contributions of distinguished employees who have played an important role in the development of the production. Outstanding miners of 2024–2025 were officially awarded by RMG General Director Joni Shubitidze.

In his address, Joni Shubitidze summed up the achievements of 2025 and reflected on the half-century journey of mining production in Kazreti:

“Today we are celebrating a truly special date — the 50th anniversary of the commissioning of our mining and processing plant. The past half century is a vivid example of hard work, perseverance, professionalism, and dedication that have brought our production to where it is today. These 50 years are not only a summary of the past, but also a strong foundation for the successful future of our company — a future created by our employees.

I am especially pleased that six years ago we established the tradition of celebrating the Professional Day of Miners to properly recognize and appreciate the people behind this success.”

At the initiative of RMG, the “Honorary Miner’s Award” was established for the first time this year, recognizing an exceptional contribution to the development of the mining sector. The award was presented to Academician Levan Japaridze.

In connection with the 50th anniversary, RMG Corporate Director Kakhaber Mchedlishvili introduced two major projects initiated by the company. The first project focuses on reviving the historic tradition of the miner’s uniform. A new ceremonial miner’s costume, designed by Anuka Keburia, was unveiled and exhibited for guests in the White Hall during the event.

The second large-scale initiative marks the beginning of work on a monument dedicated to mining, to be created by sculptor Valeri Jikia. During the event, the artist presented the concept and initial sketch of the monument to employees and guests through a holographic display.

RMG established the Professional Day of Miners in 2019, and it has been celebrated annually on December 17 ever since. Over the past six years, the company has honored 43 distinguished employees for their outstanding contributions.
