Prominent Defense Lawyer to Launch Winemaking Business
In September, Barbale’s Marani, a new space for tasting Georgian wines, will open in Tbilisi. For details, the Commersant has contacted the defense lawyer and the company founder Zviad Kordzadze.
“Barbale’s Marani will open in late September. The date will be specified for our society because of big public interest. Besides uniqueness of the concept, the project attracts attention because it opens amid stagnation of tourism and HoReCa sectors. This challenge turned out an opportunity and motivator for us to accelerate the process and make our contribution to the industry recovery”, Zviad Kordzadze said, who has been making wines for 20 years, but so far, he has not tried to trade in wines.
“I appreciate the process of working with wines, especially, with rare varieties such as Otskhanuri. Winemaking was a pleasant process for me so far and now I have decided to add commercial component to my hobby”, Zviad Kordzadze noted.
Investment value of Barbale’s Marani project is 100,000 GEL and the concept does not comprise only purchase and tasting of wines.
“This will be a space for tasting and sales of foreign and exclusive Georgian wines, including wines with 6-year aging. This space will be identical to traditional Georgian wine cellar. In practice, we will travel in time. Furthermore, Barbale’s Marani will have a corner for culture and business meetings. Barbale’s Marani will be an integrated space for tasting, sales, and communication for both Georgia and foreign tourists”, Zviad Kordzadze pointed out.
Barbale’s Marani also plans to launch wine exports.
The name of the wine cellar derives from old Georgia mythology, where Barbale was the goddess of the SUN and Fertility ensuring the fertility and continuous cycle of life for humans, earth and all the living.
