Nana Pipia Plans to Open a Berry Museum in Georgia

The chairman of Fruit Berries Cultural Development Association, Nana Pipia cultivates San Andreas strawberries on 3,000 sq.m in the village Tsaishi and sells them on the local market. Currently, 1 kilogram of strawberries costs 7-10 Lari with the delivery service.

"Strawberries imported from Turkey are cheaper, however, in terms of quality and taste, customers are paying more for the product. We were able to sell the 3 tons of crop taken last year in the local market. As for exports, my dream is for everyone to grow strawberries and have quantities to export. Now, due to the demand, we do not have any product left," noted Nana Pipia.

The pandemic decreased the number of employees from 20 to 2. However, if the next lockdown will not occur, the farmer will expand the greenhouse to 4,000 square meters.

Apart from the expansion, Nana Pipia also plans to open a berry museum. This will be a place, where people will receive information for each variety of berries.

"Every berry has its own history, I will bring and cultivate varieties that are not familiar to the Georgian market and the population," declared Nana Pipia.
