Lagazi Wine Cellars Starts Producing Dried Fruit

Lagazi Wine Cellar, which produces natural Qvevri wine, plans to put dried fruit on the market.

"We've already started working on the project, we will have dried fruit for September, which will be sold under the brand Lagazi. USAID helps us and within the framework of agritourism development, we implement the project co-financed by USAID.", declared Shota Lagazidze, founder of the company.

As for the fruit drying oven, this will be a modernized bakery that will serve guests. It will be possible to be introduced to the baking process on site.

"We cultivate wheat. We are making a mill, with which we'll grind down grain and bake the bread there. Austrian Development Fund is helping us in this project. The investment price is 35,000 GEL. For the end of September, we will offer this space to the guests. In spite of the number of tourists reduced by the pandemic and decreasing our income by 50%, we still continue to develop our complex.", noted Shota Lagazidze.

Lagazi is located in the village of Zemo Alvani. Visitors of a wine cellar can taste natural Qvevri wine, be introduced with Tushetian cuisine, and attend masterclasses of making Khinkali, Tushetian Khachapuri.
