Kombucha Plant To Open in Kaspi

A new plant manufacturing natural detox-beverage of Kombucha will be built in the village of Karapila, Kaspi Municipality, at the conditional ceasefire line.

The project will be implemented with the support of Partnership Fund, Startup Georgia and USAID. The plant’s foundation was laid on July 7.
 
This project is one of the winner projects of Startup Georgia. Beverage production will start in 3 months after the completion of construction works. The total investment value of the project is 611,300 GEL.
 
Kombucha beverage is famous for its detoxification and immune system strengthening properties and this is a priority aspect in the 21st century, namely health protection in polluted environment and supply of organ products to a human body”, Partner Fund’s officials noted.
 
The objective of the new joint initiative of Startup Georgia and USAID-Zrda is to allow villages along the ceasefire line to launch innovative business projects and create new job places.
“I congratulate the project authors and our society on the inauguration of this new enterprise that is located near the occupied territories. I am proud that our startupers are young people who have gained an education in Europe and the US leading universities and they have decided to launch business activities near the occupied territories, in the village of Kapila.
 
This is a successful experience in how to employ knowledge and domestic resources for developing small and medium business projects in regions. The USA of one of the important partners of Georgia and we believe this project implemented together with USAID-Zrda will become additional advancement for Georgia’s economic development”, Partnership Fund’s executive director David Saganelidze noted.
Meanwhile, the US Ambassador in Georgia Kelly Degnan pointed out that the US assistance aims to develop an inclusive economy in Georgia through similar projects ‘
 
‘Today we have a very good example to realize what is the objective of our cooperation and the US assistance for Georgia. In three months Kombucha plant will launch operation here. The enterprise will be built by the initiative of a group of young people, with the support of Partnership Fund, Startup Georgia and USAID-Zrda.
 
The objective of the USA assistance is to foster inclusive economic growth along the ceasefire line and village and communities and the whole country, to create new job places at small communities, like Karapila. This is an important message of what we can do together and through close cooperation. Furthermore, this demonstrates our steady support to Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity”, Kelly Degnan noted.
 
At this stage, Startup Georgia has 106 winners, including 86 innovative business projects.
