An international company became interested in Georgian almonds. Giorgi Svanidze, advisor to the ministry of agriculture declared, that representatives of the company Olam visited Georgian almond orchards and became interested.

"In the last five or six years in Georgia, almond orchards are being cultivated. One of the largest plantations, which today covers an area of 2,000 hectares, was planted by businessman Temur Ugulava. We have already met with the company Olam, which is one of the largest companies in the world with a turnover of 20 billion and owns 500 million hectares throughout the world, where it grows almonds, hazelnuts, cashews, walnuts, etc.

The representatives of the company visited the gardens, which was in Georgia to start purchasing on-site. Georgian peasant will no longer need to search for different markets. It is a company, which will buy almonds at European prices here.", stated Giorgi Svanidze.
