"I Have a Great Desire to Have an Experimental Farm and Create a New Product" - Agrosphere Scholarship Holder

Agrosphere, an importer of innovative agricultural products and machinery, has been implementing scholarship and internship programs in cooperation with the Georgian Agrarian University for the past three years. The aim of these programs is to popularize agriculture, interest more young people in the field, and train qualified personnel.

This year, Agrosphere doubled the number of participants in the program and awarded scholarships to six high-achieving third and fourth-year students. For several months, these students will have the opportunity to engage in practical internships at the company's service centers, a demonstration greenhouse, a demonstration vineyard, a certified wheat seed production facility, and mechanization services. They will also visit the plots and greenhouses of partner farmers.

We have decided to offer you a series of interviews to introduce the Agrosphere scholarship holders. This time, we spoke with Tea Imnadze, a third-year student in the agronomy program at the Agrarian University of Georgia.

Tea, how did you hear about the Agrosphere scholarship, and were you familiar with the company's activities before?

I have known about Agrosphere since my first year at the employment forums of the Agrarian University. Last year, I participated in the National Agrarian Olympiad, where I won second place and received an agro set of important measuring tools as a gift from Agrosphere. I was already aware of the company's scholarship and internship programs and eagerly awaited my third year to participate in the competition. I was highly motivated during this time, striving to maintain a high GPA, which is crucial for the competition.

How much do you think the scholarship and internship programs will help you in your professional development?

The scholarship motivates you to study diligently and helps you gain in-depth theoretical knowledge. On the other hand, my profession is practice-based, so the internship will enable me to apply what I have learned in various university subjects.

I believe the scholarship and internship are the perfect combination, which will significantly aid me in mastering my profession.

When did you become interested in agriculture?

The pandemic period was a turning point for me, as I spent most of my time at home and started taking care of plants for fun. Soon, I became interested in agriculture and decided to pursue this field. I chose agronomy because it involves both fieldwork and laboratory work, which particularly fascinates me.

Tea, tell us about your future plans...

At this stage, I want to gain practical experience and deepen my knowledge. Therefore, I plan to try my luck on different farms for now. Ultimately, I would like to have an experimental farm and create a new product. Starting from scratch won't be easy, but I have enough motivation to make it happen.
